Tehran urban households’ annual income hits $12,600

The average income of an urban household living in Tehran province was around 403.057 million rials (some $12,600 based on the exchange rate of US dollar at the free market) in the previous calendar year (which ended on March 20).

According to the Central Bank of Iran, the residents of Tehran province had the most income in the mentioned period, while the residents of southern Sistan and Baluchestan province had the least income.

The average income of an urban household living in Sistan and Baluchestan province was around 155.484 million rials (some $4,900 based on the exchange rate of USD at the free market) in previous year.

In regards to spending, the residents of Tehran province were again at the top of the list with 409.317 million rials (some $12,800).

The residents of southern Hormozgan province with 168.6 million rials (some $5,300) spend the least amount of money last year.

The Statistical Center of Iran reported on July 12 that the average monthly spending of an urban Iranian household in the previous calendar year was around 17.17 million rials (some $554 based on the exchange rate of USD at the free market).

The average income of urban households in the mentioned period was also 17.03 million rials (some $549 based on the exchange rate of USD at the free market).

An urban household's total spending in the mentioned year was averagely around 206.034 million rials, which is 25.4 percent more than its preceding year.

Food stuff and tobacco accounted for 26.7 percent of the mentioned figure.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on August 20 that the country's inflation will fall below 20 percent by the end of the current calendar year (March 20, 2015).

Iranian president has vowed to decrease the inflation rate to 5 percent in the [Iranian calendar] year of 1395 (to end on March 20, 2017), Iran's Mehr News Agency reported.

The inflation rate in Iran in 2005, when Ex-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad took the government was about 10.4 percent, but in mid-2013, when Ahmadinejad handed over the office to Rouhani, the inflation rate and point-to-point inflation rate were 37.5 percent and 44 percent, respectively.

Iranian Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Ali Tayyebnia said on July 19 that the country plans to decrease its inflation rate to a one-digit number.
