Iran increases bi-fuel vehicle production

Production of bi-fuel cars in Iran has increased in the 11th Iranian fiscal year (ended on Feb. 19).

Bi-fuel vehicles or otherwise known as dual fuel vehicles are vehicles with multi-fuel engines capable of running on two fuels. On internal combustion engines one fuel is gasoline or diesel, and the other is an alternate fuel such as CNG or LPG.

Production of bi-fuel Peugeot 405 rose by 78 percent, reaching from 1737 cars to 3106 cars, Iran's ISNA news agency reported on March 14.

Production of bi-fuel Peugeot Pars rose by 232 percent, reaching from 669 cars to 2223 cars. Production of bi-fuel Samand rose by 3681 percent, reaching from 77 cars to 2912 cars.

Production of bi-fuel Pride rose by 204 percent, reaching from 866 cars to 2634 cars. Production of bi-fuel Nasim and Saba rose by 42.7 percent, reaching from 1637 cars to 2336 cars.

Car production in Iran rose 58.2 percent in the first eleven months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21, 2014- February 19, 2015), compared to the same period in the previous year.

Iranian carmakers manufactured 881,467 vehicles in the 11-month period.
