Iran’s daily electricity exports hit 1.1GW

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran exported 1.095 gigawatts (GW) of electricity to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Armenia and Turkey on March 30.

The country imported 187 megawatts of electricity from Armenia and Turkmenistan on the same day, Iran 's IRNA reported March 31.

This puts Iran 's electricity trade with neighboring countries in a positive range at 908 megawatts.


Iran is currently trading electricity with Armenia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Iran seeks to become a major regional exporter of electricity and has attracted more than $1.1 billion in investments for the construction of three new power plants.

The country's production capacity has surpassed 70,000 megawatt (263 billion Kwh).
