Iran produced over 26.3 million tons of cement in the first five months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21-Aug. 22), the country's industry, mines, and trade ministry reported Sept. 30.
More than 5.414 million tons of cement was produced in the fifth calendar month (July 21-Aug. 22), according to the report.
Some 17.1 million tons of cement was supplied to the domestic market in the first five months of the current year, meanwhile Iran exported over 6.55 million tons of cement in the period.
Iran also produced 29.947 million tons of clinker in the 5-month period, of that amount 5.1 million tons was produced in the fifth month.
Iran ranks first in the Middle East and fourth in the world in terms of cement production.
The country produced over 67 million tons of cement in the past fiscal year, 4 percent less year-on-year. The figure is predicted to hit 72 million tons this year (by March 21, 2016).
Tehran exported 18.942 million metric tons of cement and clinker in the past Iranian fiscal year (ended on March 21), a one percent rise year-on-year.
Iran currently exports cement to 24 countries including Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Georgia, Oman, India, and China.
