Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 13

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran is in talks with German and Italian giant carmakers Volkswagen and Fiat.

Iran's Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said Iran is interested in cooperating with Japanese carmakers as well, IRIB reported Oct. 13.

He made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran with Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.

"History shows that Japanese companies have mainly sold cars or spare parts. This is against Iran's new policies," Nematzadeh said.

"I recommend Japanese companies to be active in manufacturing spare parts in large scale, for instance, for 70,000 cars per year."

"Iran is also ready for cooperating with Japanese companies in the production of home appliances. We are negotiating for manufacturing advanced medical devices with Philips and Siemens, and we are interested in cooperation with Japanese companies, as well," he said.
