Iran will dispatch commercial attachés to four European countries, Valiollah Afkhamirad, head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization said.
Iran currently has no commercial attaché in the EU, Afkhamirad said, adding Tehran will assign commercial attaché in Germany, France, Italy and Spain in the new future.
Following the international sanctions many Iranian commercial attaches returned home, Afkhamirad said, Iran's Fars news agency reported Oct. 31.
In recent months 17 new commercial attaches were dispatched to various countries and nine new officials will be appointed by the end of the current year, he added.
Afkhamirad further said that the Industries, Mines and Trade ministry is permitted to assign commercial attaches in 30 countries.
Resolving problems of Iranian businessmen, creating commercial links with decision-makers and officials are the aim of the commercial attachés.
Acquaintance with technical and engineering projects, informing domestic businessmen about news and events in the country of mission, communication with embassies, invitation of chamber of commerce, businessmen and merchants to attend exhibition, conference and holding bilateral meetings are among duties of the Iranian commercial attachés as well.
Last April Aboutaleb Badri, deputy head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization said that Iran has dispatched commercial attachés to Iraq, Lebanon, China, Azerbaijan, Venezuela, Armenia, Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
He further said that Tunisia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Italy, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Spain, Oman, Iraq, South Korea, China, Nigeria, Kenya and Afghanistan are locations for sending commercial attaché.
In addition to countries, number of attaché would be dispatched to Astrakhan in Russia, Iraqi Kurdistan province, Basra in Iraq and Herat of Afghanistan, Badri added.
