Iran’s sedan car import rises by 11%

Iran has imported 30,400 sedan cars, worth $717.86 million, during the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21 - Dec. 22, 2015), read the latest report from Iran's Customs Administration.

Iran's sedan imports registered an increase by 11 percent in terms of value during the period year on year.

The Islamic Republic imported 4,400 sedan cars in the Iranian calendar month of Azar (Nov. 22 -Dec. 22, 2015), according to the report.

The country prohibits importing cars with engines up to 2,500 cubic centimetres (CC) capacity.

Iran's total car and car part imports accounted for $1.363 billion, registering a rise by 12.55 percent compared to the preceding month.

Iran's sedan car imports stood at 102,000, worth $2.128 billion, during last fiscal year (ended on March 21, 2015), 31 percent and 30 percent more in terms of amount and value respectively year on year.

Some 1.13 million cars have also been produced in the country in the past fiscal year.

In the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year, 682,182 cars were manufactured in Iran, a 17 percent fall year on year.
