Iran decreases gas flaring at South Pars field by 43%

Iran decreased the amount of flaring gas in giant South Pars field by 43 percent to 714,000 cubic meters per day during last fiscal year, a report, prepared by Oil Ministry says.

For the current fiscal year, started on March 21, the amount of flaring would decreased to 400,000 cubic meters per day, the report, obtained by Trend on April 12 added.

During the last fiscal year, Iran produced 130 billion cubic meters of raw gas from South Pars, which shares about 50 percent of the country's total gas output.

Iran has inaugurated 13 phases of this field, while 4 phases are half-operational.

The country has planned to complete all 24 phase of South Pars and increase the gas production level from this field to above 290 billion cubic meters by the end of 2019.
