Tehran, Iran, April 15
By Mehdi Sepahvand - Trend:
Iran's tile output fell by 30 percent last Iranian fiscal year (which ended March 19), according to Iran Ceramics and Tiles Association Chairman Behnam Azizzadeh.
Last year's output amounted to less than 50 percent of the factories' real capacity, he told Fars news agency April 15.
The country's tile output capacity stands at 700 million square meters per year, last year factories produced only 300 million square meters.
According to Azizzadeh, during the said period the country's tile export stayed as before, while domestic consumption dropped.
The drop followed reduction in construction across the country, he noted.
Iran's construction sector has been crushing under a serious downturn in the past couple of years.
