Iran’s car output records slight increase

Iran's car output during the first month of current fiscal year(March 20-April 20) stood at 60,250, the country's industry ministry reported.

The figure indicates a slight rise compared to 58,023 cars, which were produced in the same period of last year.

Iranian carmakers produced 56,415 sedan cars, 2,867 pick-ups, 864 trucks, 33 minibus and 71 buses in the one-month period.

Iranian companies manufactured 976,836 cars in last fiscal year (ended on March 20), 13.7 percent less year-on-year.

Iranian carmakers produced 892,600 sedan cars (6.9 percent fall), 73,187 pick-ups (51.5 percent fall), 9,842 trucks (53.1 percent fall), 511 minibuses (85.1percent increase) and 696 buses (46.9 percent more) in the 12-month period.

Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made the country Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer. Iran also stood at the world's 18th place in the mentioned year.

The Islamic Republic's car output faced a 40-percent decrease in 2012 due to sanctions. The country was Asia's fifth largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.
