Tehran, Iran, May 21
By Mehdi Sepahvand -- Trend:
In a joint announcement read during a Central Bank of Iran (CBI) and Euromoney joint conference in London, the US, UK, France, and Germany called on world companies to resume their relations with Iran.
As long as the companies observe all respective rules in business with Iran, their business will not be hampered, the announcement read, the CBI reported May 21.
The announcement was read after CBI President Valiollah Seif in his address to the conference urged stronger commitment to the JCPOA especially by its Western sides and called on the countries to alleviate the concerns of various companies which are afraid of being punished for reestablishing business ties with Iran.
Following the conference, Seif met UK Foreign Secretary Phillip Hammond, who said his country is committed to the nuclear deal.
The UK government has so far taken many measures to precipitate banking relations with Iran, Hammond assured Seif.
The two also discussed the prospects of Iranian banks reopening their branches in London and being able to resume their international operations in full.
In his address to the conference, Seif had pointed out that despite assurances from the US government that companies are free under the JCPOA to reconnect with Iran, businessmen around the world are afraid of punishment that may be inflicted by the US Congress or judicial courts.
