Iranian banks debt to central bank hikes by 6.6 %

The amount of the liabilities of Iranian banks and non-bank credit institutions to the country’s central bank increased by 6.6 percent in a period of one month between April 20 – May 20 (Iranian month of Ordibehesht) year-on-year.

The liabilities of banks and also non-bank credit institutions (excluding the branches of commercial banks abroad) to Central Bank of Iran (CBI) stood at 893 trillion rials (per US dollar makes 30,940 rials according to official rate on July 24) in the month of Ordibehesht (second month of Iranian calendar year), the latest statistics released by CBI revealed.

Meanwhile, the volume of the deposits of Iranian banks and non-bank credit institutions with Central Bank amounted to 1152.9 trillion rials, indicating 28.3 percent growth.

The amount of the foreign assets of the mentioned institution in the meantime increased by 17.1 percent year on year hitting 2326.7 trillion rials.

The value of their banknotes and coins also surged by 13.5 percent reaching 117.6 trillion rials.

According to the report, the total assets and liabilities of banks and non-bank credit institutions in the mentioned period soared by 23.2 percent reaching 19584.7 trillion rials.
