Use of liquid fuels in Iran's power plants down

Iranian power plants consumed 1,406 million liters (ml) of fuel oil as well as 947 ml of gas oil in six months of the current fiscal year (started March 21), which indicates 57.1 percent and 54.7 percent decrease respectively year-on-year.

According to the latest weekly report, released by Iran's Energy Ministry, Iran increased gas deliveries to power sector by 8.2 percent to 37.817 billion cubic meters as well.

The country added 1,793 megawatts (MW) to the country’s total power generation capacity in six months, which now stands at 75,896 MW.

During this period, Iran generated 166,548 million kilowatts hour (kWh) electricity energy, of which 4,111 million kWh was exported.

Iran’s electricity exports declined by 24 percent, while the imports increased by 9 percent to 2,339 million kWh in the first half of the current fiscal year.
