Major Iranian steel factories’ export up 24% YoY

The export value of seven major steel producers in Iran increased by 24 percent during the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 20 – September 22) compared to the same time last year.

During the said period, the factories’ export value stood at $850,428,358 IRIB news agency reported October 9.

The factories in the report included Hormozgan, Oxin, Khorasan, Iran Alloy, Mobarakeh, Khuzestan, and Isfahan, which together 2,677,785 tons of steel.

Over 11.451 million tons of crude steel were produced in Iran during the first eight months of 2016, the World Steel Association said in its latest monthly report.

The figure indicates an increase by 5.1 percent compared to the same period of 2015 (10.894 million tons).

About 1.35 million tons of crude steel was produced in Iran in Aug. 2016, or 8.1 percent more year-on-year.

Iran was the world’s 14th biggest producer of steel in the 8-month period. The country also ranked first among the Middle East countries.
