Iran’s steel ingot output rises by 8%

About 10.741 million tons of crude steel was produced in Iran during the seven month period from March 20 to Sept. 21, 2016.

The figure shows a rise by 8 percent compared to the same period last year, the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said Nov. 22.

Iranian state-run companies produced 8.375 million tons of crude steel, meanwhile the private sector shared 2.366 million tons of total output.

Iranian state-run and private steel producer companies also produced about 10.285 million tons of various steel products including beam, wide sheets, hot rolled sheets, galvanized steel and tubes during the 7-month period of the current year, which is 4 percent less compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran exported 1.99 million tons of crude steel as well as 1.296 million tons of steel products in the 7-month period, indicating 103 percent and 5 percent rise respectively year-on-year.

The country also imported 150 tons of crude steel (299 percent increase) and 1.807 million tons of steel products (18 percent fall) in the same period.
