Russia hosts Iran’s exclusive trade exhibition

The third exclusive trade and industry exhibition of Iran opened in Russia’s Astrakhan city on Dec. 7, IRNA news agency reported.

Russian and Iranian officials, including Tehran Province Governor Hassan Hashemi were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Over 33 Iranian companies, active in construction, energy, food, agriculture, textile and engineering sectors are present in the event which will continue until Dec. 7.

The event is held in collaboration with Iran’s Consulate General in Astrakhan and the chambers of commerce and industry of Astrakhan, Krasnodar, Rostov, Volgograd, Stavropol and Dagestan and with the participation of state-run and private sectors, including companies, enterprises, manufacturers, exporters and businessmen from Iran and Russia.

The exhibition aims to develop commercial and trade relations between Iran and Russia.

Iran’s trade turnover with Russia’s Astrakhan stood at $117 million in the first eight months of 2016. The figure makes 25 percent of the Russian province’s total foreign trade.

Iran-Russia mutual trade turnover currently stands at $2 billion per year.
