Iran’s housing gas consumption has increased again to about 530 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) for the second time since the second half of November 2016 when the figure stood at 560 mcm/d.

National Iranian Gas Company announced on its official website that due to the cold weather in 28 provinces gas consumption in housing sector increased again.

According to a document prepared by Iran’s Oil Ministry and seen by Trend, the housing sector consumed about 165 mcm/d of gas in spring and summer, that is, in the first half of the current fiscal year that started on March 21, 2016.

Housing sector in Iran consumes about 46 percent of Iran’s total sweet gas production. Iran’s total sweet gas output stood at 520 mcm/d last year, but it was about 540 mcm/d in the first half of current fiscal year.

However, this is not the total capacity, because Iran produces less sweet gas in warm seasons due to maintenance and repair of platforms and refineries.
