Iranian bank finances Iran-Armenia electricity transmission line

Iran’s Export Development Bank allocated over 83 million euros for construction of the third power transmission line between the Islamic Republic and Armenia.

The loan with 5 percent annual interest, is equal to 77 percent of total assets needed to build the power line, IRIB news agency reported Feb. 16.

Iran and Armenia signed a contract for the construction of the power transmission line in August 2015.

The line will be a double-circuit 400 kV line and once is completed, the electricity networks of Iran, Russia, Georgia and Armenia will be synchronized, according to Iranian officials.

Some 730 transmission towers will be installed in the 275-kilometer and two-circuit power transmission line.
