Iran’s goods exports to US surge, imports fall

Iran saw a considerable surge in exports of goods and services to the US over January 2017 as its imports of American goods dropped by 52 percent, compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to the latest statistics by the US Census Bureau, Iran has exported $5.6 million worth of goods and services to the US over January 2017. The Islamic Republic in January 2016 did not export any goods to the US.

In the meantime, Iran’s imports from the US dropped by 51.96 percent as the Islamic Republic’s imports from the US in January stood at $4.9 million.

The trade turnover between the two countries in January stood at $10.5 million posting 2.94 percent growth year on year. Trade between the two countries in 2016 totaled $258.1 million.

The exports of goods and services of the US in January accounted for $192.1 billion, the highest level since December 2014 when they were $197.5 billion.

Its January imports of goods and services also stood at $240.6 billion, the highest since December 2014 when they were $241.2 billion.
