Iran's unemployment rate during the current fiscal year(started March 20, 2016) stood at 12.4 percent, according to the latest report from the Iranian Statistical Center.
The unemployment rate among Iranians aged over 10 years in the mentioned 12-month period was 1.4 percent more than the same period of 2015.
The number of unemployed Iranians above 10 years old reached 3.2 million by March 2017.
All Iranians aged over 10 years, who worked at least one hour a week, or temporary left their work during the survey week, were included as employed labor force in the report.
The country's labor force participation rate stood at 39.5 percent (1.2 percent more year-on-year), equal to 25.79 million.
The participation rate is the percentage of working-age persons in an economy who are employed or unemployed but looking for a job.
About 18 percent of the country's labor force was employed in the agriculture sector, while 31.9 and 50.1 percent were employed in the industry and services sectors, respectively.
In total 22.588 million people were employed in various sectors in the country by March 2017.
Unemployment among men and women was also around 10.5 and 20.7 percent, respectively, during the period.
The country's urban and rural unemployment rate in the mentioned period stood at 13.7 and 8.9 percent, respectively.
According to the report, the country's labor force participation rate for men and women was 64.1 percent and 14.9 percent, respectively by March.
The figure for country’s urban and rural areas also reached 38.9 percent and 41 percent, respectively in the same period.
