Tehran, Iran, July 31

By Mehdi Sepahvand, Khalid Kazimov – Trend:

Iran’s recent breakthrough in reaching new business deals with leading European firms and companies shows that the US has failed to reach its goal of poisoning the atmosphere, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told Trend.

He made the remarks at an interview with Trend on the sidelines of a ceremony to ink a deal on cooperation between Iran and Russia in Tehran this morning.

Expressing satisfaction over the recent measures taken in the country aimed at finalizing more agreements with the European partners, he said that his country appreciates those countries that stood with Iran during the era of sanctions.

The senior diplomat further added that the recent agreements with Europeans including the one with French Total and Alstom demonstrated the proper atmosphere for cooperation with Iran.

In an early July development, France's Total signed a $5 billion deal with Tehran to develop phase 11 of Iran's South Pars, the world's largest gas field, marking the first major Western energy investment in the Islamic Republic since the lifting of sanctions against it.
