The Iranian president Hassan Rouhani has introduced Masoud Karbasian, as a nominee for the Economy Ministry.
The proposed Economy minister, who over the past four years has served as deputy Economy minister and the head of Iran’s Customs Administration, holds doctoral degree in Management and Planning.
Karbasian is one of the successful managers in the Islamic Republic and has demonstrated an acceptable performance during the past years, Mehdi Taghavi, an Iranian economic expert told Trend.
Taghavi, who is a professor of Iran’s Allameh Tabataba'i University said that improvement of the performance of the Iranian Customs Administration and implementation of the reforms in that organization during the first term of Rouhani’s presidency were amongst Karbasian’s outstanding achievements.
Despite the fact that Karbasian is a successful manager, he is not an economist, the expert added.
By appointing capable economists to various positions in the ministry and using them for the formation of his strategy and policy, Karbasian could cover his lack of the needed economic knowledge for undertaking the necessary economic reforms.
