Iran produced 545,000 car units in five month

In the first five months of the current fiscal year (since March 21) Iran had produced the total of 545,000 car units, according to Mohammad Reza Najafi Manesh, member of the board of directors of the Association of Automobile Industry Manufacturers.

Of that number, about 500,000 cars were produced by Iran Khodro and Saipa, rest – by privately owned companies, he told Radio Eqtesad, Aug 21.

This number, he further explained, indicates a 16 percent growth, compared to the same period of the preceding year.

On July 25 the Industry, Mine and Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh said that, for the current fiscal year the production of 1.6 million cars is expected.

Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the last fiscal year.

Iran was the world’s 20th biggest car manufacturer by the end of 2015, while it stood at the 18th place in the first half of 2015.
