Iran has exported 22 million barrels of fuel oil to Asian countries over the last two months.
The development came following the inauguration of several phases of South Pars gas field, IRNA news agency reported.

According to the report, most of the power plants and large industrial units in the country have turned to gas and stopped using liquid fuels following the inauguration of the phases of South Pars gas field.
In the meantime, Iran has exported four million barrels of gas oil in the two month period (June 22-August 22).

Back in the fiscal year 2013/14, due to lack of gas, liquid fuel accounted for the 43 percent of the fuel used in the country’s power plants.

The amount of liquid fuel used in power plants in the mentioned year valued at $18 billion.
The current consumption of liquid fuel in the power plants has dropped to 10 percent.

Iran’s gas output from the South Pars gas field has reached 550 million barrels per day from 280 million barrels per day in the fiscal 2013/14.

In the meantime, the country’s gas exports over the first five months of the current fiscal year (starting March 20) have hiked by 64 percent year-on-year, reaching 5 billion cubic meters.

Iran’s gas exports witnessed the major surge after the country increased its gas output from the South Pars field by 25 billion cubic meters in the second half of the last fiscal year.
