Iran unveils auto output details

Over 684,300 cars were produced in Iran during the first half of current Iranian fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 22), according to a report released by the Iranian Industry, Mine and Trade Ministry .

The figure indicates a rise by 17.9 percent as compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Passenger cars (including sedans and SUVs) accounted for 643,321 of the output with a production growth rate of 20.5 percent.

Iranian car makers also produced 32,605 pick-ups(17 percent fall), 6,707 trucks(12.6 percent increase) and 859 buses(18 percent increase) in the 6-month period.

The country’s minibus and van output also stood at 458 and 350 vehicles.

Van output registered a high increase by 161.2 percent, meanwhile minibus output increased by 18 percent year-on-year.

The country’s auto output during the last calendar month (Aug. 21-Sept. 22) reached 105,843 vehicles, 13.1 percent more compared to the same month of preceding year.

Passenger cars (including sedans and SUVs) accounted for 98,273 of the output with a production growth rate of 14.6 percent.

Iranian car makers produced 5,959 pick-ups in the one-month period, registering a fall by 6.6 percent year-on-year.

The country’s minibus and van output stood at 74 and 32 vehicles.

While minibus production registered a fall by 8.6 percent, Iran’s van output decreased by 15.8 percent.

Iran’s monthly bus and truck output also stood at 220 (a 201.4 percent increase) and 1,285 (a 4.2 percent increase), respectively.

Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017).

Iran’s car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall compared to the preceding year.
