Iran mulls insuring housekeepers

Masoumeh Ebtekar, the Iranian vice president for women and family affairs, has voiced plans for insuring women whose main occupation is caring for family and managing household affairs.

Ebtekar has said that Iranian parliamentary commission for social affairs is currently discussing a draft bill on insuring housekeepers, ISNA news agency reported.

She described the plan as “significant” and added that the officials have taken measures to calculate the value of housework.

The vice president further touched upon the issue of women living in rural areas, saying the government has set a target to create job opportunities for female villagers.

Masoumeh Ebtekar also stated that the government is seriously following up on the issue of providing support for women in the country.
