Road transit via Iran increases by 27pct

Over 4.85 million tons of goods were transited through Iranian roads in the first half of the current fiscal year, started on March 2017.

The volume of transited goods indicates an increase by 27.4 percent year on year, the Iranian Industry Ministry reported.

Chemical products topped the list of the transited goods in the period. Over 1.8 million tons of chemical were transited through Iranian roads, 70 percent more year on year.

About 693,000 tons of transited goods in the six-month period. Transit of the agricultural products registered a rise by 47 percent.

About 634,000 tons of light products (50 percent increase), 671,000 tons of machinery and spare parts (67 percent increase), 315,000 of metals (2 percent fall), 133,000 tons of construction and mineral products (21 percent fall) and 91,000 tons of wood and papers (15 percent fall) were transited via Iranian roads, the report said.

According to the Iran’s Industry Ministry data, over 7.82 million tons of goods were transited via Iran’s roads in last fiscal year (ended March 2017), indicating a 10.7 percent increase on yearly basis.
