By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:

Iran is likely to become capable of exporting 4.5 million tons of ethane by 2021.

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has said that the country currently produces about 4.5 million tons of ethane a year and the figure is expected to reach six million tons over the next fiscal year (starting March 20), local media reported.

Iran’s ethane output would hit 10 million tons by 2021, he added.

Saying that the current demand for the product in the domestic market is about 5.5 million tons, the minister stated that the surplus output of ethane should be exported.

About 1.3 million tons of ethane was produced from the South Pars gas field over the first 7 months of the current fiscal.
