Iran Khodro’s output lags behind Saipa in rare development

Iranian automaker company Saipa became the country’s first car manufacturer in terms of output volume last month.

The company, which used to be Iran’s second biggest automaker after Iran Khodro, took the largest share of Iran’s auto market in last Iranian calendar month (Jan. 20-Feb. 20) manufacturing 64,840 cars, according to a report by Iran’s industry ministry.

The company’s auto production accounted for 44.69 percent of overall domestic car output.

Saipa manufactured 61,168 passenger cars, 2,967 pick-ups, 33 vans and 672 commercial cars in the 1-month period.

The Iranian carmaker produced 601,207 cars during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year(started March 20,2017), registering an output growth by 16.1 percent.

Iran Khodro (IKCO), the Islamic Republic’s biggest automaker company, has manufactured over 644,900 passenger cars during the 11-month period. The figure indicates a rise by 9 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Over 1.350 million cars were produced in Iran in the last Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017).
