Daily gasoline consumption in Iran registered an increase by 10.8 percent during the last Iranian calendar month, ended April 20.

The country’s average daily gasoline consumption stood at 87.2 million liters, the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company said.

The overall gasoline consumption in the country during the last calendar month amounted to 2.704 billion liters.

The highest amount of gasoline consumption in the last calendar month was related to April 1 (Sunday) on which 110.5 million liters of gasoline was consumed.

The lowest rate of gasoline consumption in the mentioned period was recorded on April 6 (Friday) with 70.3 million liters.

Meanwhile Ali Reza Sadeqabadi, head of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) said that Iran’s gasoline production will reach 105 million liters per day by March 2019.

Some 87 million liters of the produced gasoline will be Euro 4 and Euro 5 types.

The official put the country’s daily Euro 4 gasoline production at 28 million liters.

Iran’s gasoline output currently stands at 78 million liters on a daily basis.

Iran’s oil minister Bijan Zanganeh earlier said that the country will have no gasoline import since the second half of the current calendar year (starting on September 23).

In mid-December last year, the minister had said that Iran will reach a stable status in gasoline production once the second phase of Persian Gulf Star Refinery comes on stream.

The refinery in the southern province of Hormozgan is the first of its kind designed based on gas condensate feedstock.

Once fully operational, the refinery will add over 36 million liters of Euro-4 and Euro-5 quality gasoline to the country’s gasoline production capacity to increase to 100 million liters per day.
