The managing director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said the 9th Iran Gas Trunkline (IGAT -9) has made 70 percent physical progress and will become operational by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (began on March 21, 2018).

The trunkline will come on stream at the end of the year after the process of injection of gas into its pipes in Dehgolan is done, Hamidreza Araki said recently, according to IRIB news website.

The gas will be transferred from Dehgolan town, Kurdistan Province, to the city of Miandoab in West of Azarbaijan Province.

IGAT-9 is a 1,900-kilometer prospective pipeline that will stretch from the southern city of Asalouyeh in Bushehr Province through Ahvaz, Dehgolan and eventually Bazargan.

He added that IGAT-9 is a major component of the national gas grid which will transfer millions of cubic meters of gas per day from South Pars Gas Field in the Persian Gulf to western and northwestern regions.

Araki further said that the government has allocated nearly $4 billion to fully make the trunkline operational.

Upon completion, the pipeline will have the capacity to transfer 100 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
