Iran has imported 736,610 cellphones to the country through legal channels in the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21), according to customs data.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration said that during the two-months to May 21, 736,610 cellphones worth $109.250 million were imported to the country.
It added that there has been a 163 percent increase in the number of handsets entering the country compared to the same period last year.
In 2017, 282,672 cellphones worth $41.5 million were brought into Iran.
According to data published on the website of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration, cellphones were Iran’s 13th biggest import, claiming a 0.86 percent share of the import bill.
