Iran’s cement output amounted to 54.72 million tons during the last fiscal year, ended March 20, according to the Iranian Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade data.

The figure indicates a fall by 1.5 percent compared to the preceding year, ended March 20, 2017. However, on a monthly basis, 4.76 million tons of cement were produced in the 12th Iranian calendar month (Feb. 20-March 20), 21.7 percent more compared to the preceding month.

Iran's cement sector is facing various problems, including deep recession in construction activities and an inadequate provision of natural gas to industrial users as well as a considerable export fall due to regional issues.

According to Iran’s industry ministry data, the output of Iran’s tile and ceramic industry increased by 16.9 percent during the last fiscal year.

The country produced 372.2 million square meters of tile and ceramic in the 12-month period.

Iran produced 31 million square meters of tiles and ceramics in the 12 calendar month, 8.8 percent less compared to the preceding month.

The country’s tiles and ceramics output amounted to 292.5 million square meters during the preceding fiscal year (ended March 20, 2017), 4.4 percent less year-on-year.

Iranian officials have earlier announced that the country’s tile and ceramic industry’s nominal production capacity stands at 700 million square meters per year.

The officials have also said that 133 manufacturing units are active in tile and ceramic production nationwide.

Iran also produced 982,000 tons of glass in the 12-month period, 18.9 percent more year-on-year.

The Iranian manufacturers produced 103,500 tons of sanitary wares in the period as well, 21.8 percent more year-on-year.
