Iran exports yogurt to US

The US was among the destination of Iran’s yogurt export in the current year, according to the Islamic Republic’s Customs Administration.

Iran exported 29,484 tons of yogurt, worth $29.15 million during the first quarter of the current fiscal year (March 20-June 20), the Iranian customs said.

Nine countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, the US, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait and Malaysia were among importers of yogurt from the Islamic Republic during the period.

Earlier it was announced that Iran has also exported ice cream to the United States in the current year.

Dairy products had the biggest share in Iran’s food industry exports in the last fiscal year. Iran exported 381,000 tons of the products, worth $706 million, registering fall by 12 percent in terms of volume and 9 percent in terms of value, year-on-year, respectively.

According to the latest statistics of the United States Census Bureau, trade turnover between Iran and the US stood at $78.8 million in the first five months of 2018, 20 percent more year-on-year.

The US exports to Iran accounted to $50.2 million in the 5-month period, which is 59 percent more year-on-year.

Meanwhile Iran's exports to the US decreased by 17 percent to $ 28.6 million in January-May 2018.

In May 2018, Iran and the US had a trade turnover worth $11.3 million (8 percent more year-on-year), 5.2 million of which accounted for the US exports to Iran.
