Trend:

Mohammad-Rahim Dehghani, managing director of Sadra Marine Industrial Corporation, said offshore platform of Phase 14 of South Pars Gas Field has witnessed over 97 percent physical progress and will soon become operational.

The offshore platform of Phase 14 at the huge energy hub in the Persian Gulf was loaded on Saturday and will be soon installed, Dehghani said on September 1, IRNA news agency reported.

He added that the platform has witnessed 97 percent physical progress during two years.

Platform 14A, which weighs 2,500 tons, will be installed with the help of a domestic Oceanic 5000 crane ship.

With the launch of the platform, 14 million cubic meters of gas will be added to Iran’s national gas network, Dehghani said.

“We are working on more platforms and they will come on stream in the future,” he said.

South Pars Gas Field, development of which has been divided into 28 phases, is located in the Persian Gulf straddling the maritime border between Iran and Qatar.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, of which 3,700 square kilometers belong to Iran.

It is estimated that the Iranian section of the field contains 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of condensates in place.
