Company in Iran punished for smuggling

A company in Yazd province of Iran has been convicted to payment of penalty in the amount of $181,000 on a charge of smuggling, Golamreza Salari, the Director General of the State Ta’zir (crimes for which punishments are not fixed and instead are left to the discretion of the Shari’a judge) Department of Iran’s Yazd province said, ILNA news agency reported.

He noted that the investigative police for the fight against smuggling of goods in Yazd province detected LED lamps in a truck and thereafter submitted relevant report to a court. The criminal case has been reviewed at the Department’s Shahid Madani Mehr-riz county division and the first instance judgment has been delivered. The executive director of the mentioned company has been deprived of the right to function as a company for the period of 1 year and has been convicted to pay the penalty in the amount of $181,000.
