India is looking forward to the start of operation of Chabahar - Zahedan and Khavaf - Herat railways, Economic Relations Secretary of India's Ministry of External Affairs T.S. Tirumurti said at the meeting of the coordination council of the three-sided transit agreement between Iran, India and Afghanistan, Mehr News Agency reported.
According to Tirumurti, the port of Chabahar is a center for the region's transportation and can be effective in the development of trilateral relations of Iran, India and Afghanistan.
He also pointed out the importance of developing transport infrastructure in the three countries, namely, Khavaf-Herat, Chabahar-Zahedan Railway project.
"Putting these railways into operation will solve the Iran's main connection problems with Afghanistan," he said.
"The location of Chabahar port allows to connect India with Central Asia. We can convert this port into the center of transit activities," he said.
