It is necessary to organize a regional transit and transport link between Iran, India and Afghanistan for the implementation of the Chabahar Agreement, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Managing Director of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Rastad said.

He was speaking at the first trilateral meeting of the Coordination Council of the Chabahar Agreement.

The implementation of the Chabahar Agreement will create conditions for development of multilateral transit in the region, he said.

“Undoubtedly, the Chabahar Port creates possibility for supplying products from the Indian Ocean to Central Asia, Russia, Eastern Europe and the Caucasus in the shortest possible time, and we will witness transit development in the region in the coming years,” he said.

Rastad added that Chabahar is one of the strategic ports of Iran.
