Some 160 kilometers of roads are being laid in Iran's Ardabil province, Director of Ardabil Roads and Urban Development Department Mahbub Heydari said, Trend reports via IRNA.
Ardabil is lagging behind in terms of roads in Iran, he said, adding that work is being carried out to bring the province to Iranian average in terms of road infrastructure.
A program has been established to ensure the construction of at least 30 kilometers of roads per year, Heydari said. In the long-term, laying 650 kilometers of roads is envisaged, he added.
In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), the funds allocated to road construction projects of the province have increased by four times compared to the previous year, Heydari said, adding that the country's budget for the upcoming year envisages construction of seven national highways for the province.
