By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Some contracts of Iranian private sector with foreign companies have been canceled or officially suspended, said Laya Joneydi, vice president for legal affairs in the administration of President Hassan Rouhani, Trend reports with reference to IRNA.

She added that other members of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) didn’t withdraw from the deal. However, they cannot ensure economic objectives of the JCPOA, which seeks to normalize economic and trade relations with Iran, she noted.

“The special-purpose vehicle (SPV) simplifies Iran’s trade and other members of the JCPOA,” she added. “That’s because the withdrawal of the US from the agreement has affected the obligations of the remaining members.”

Iran considers withdrawal of the US from the JCPOA illegal, because there was a mechanism envisaged for withdrawal from the deal, she said.

However, the US abandoned the agreement for some other reasons, she added.

The US withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018 and imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018.
