Electricity production increases in Iran's Kerman province

Over the past 40 years, the electricity generated by power plants in Iran’s Kerman province has increased by 60 times, Executive Director of Iranian Electric Power Company Ali Asghar Nasrallahi said.

Presently, about 3,600 megawatts of electricity are generated in the province per year, Nasrallahi added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

Nasrullahi added that 2,000 megawatts are generated by Baghin power plant, 500,000 megawatts are generated by three newly established power plants in Samangan, Goharan and Shubad, 60 megawatts in Zarand, 32,000 megawatts are generated by solar power stations and 14 megawatts by other power plants in the province.

Presently, 35 percent of electricity generated in Kerman province is used in agriculture sector while 32 percent - in the industrial sector, he said.

Bardsir Power Station has purchased a license and will solve financial issues, Nasrallahi said.

He said that the work has been carried out to implement the second phase of Goharan Power Plant for the generation of 500 megawatts of electricity.

Kerman Regional Electric Company intends to attract the private sector investors in the production of solar power, he added.

By 2021, 200 megawatts of electricity are expected to be generated by solar power plants in the province, Nasrallahi said.
