It is possible to extract 5 million tons of different mining materials per year from mines in Iran’s Qazvin province, said Saeed Nabil, chairman of Qazvin Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Trend reports via the organization’s website.

He said that 180 mines operate in the province and 28 types of mining materials are extracted.

He noted that 1,500 people work in the mines of the province.

“Iran’s second big copper mine was built in the province and is ready to be put into operation,” he said. “About 10 trillion rials (about $238 million) have been invested in this mine and 450 jobs will be provided.”

He noted that the mine has 14 million tons of reserves of mining materials.

Nabil added that the mine will start operating in a test mode in the coming weeks and will be officially commissioned in the near future.
