A preliminary agreement has been reached on the export of oil from the port of Amirabad in Iran’s northern Mazandaran Province to the Russian port of Astrakhan, Director General of Amirabad Ports and Maritime Organization, and of Amirabad Special Economic Zone Siyavash Rezvani told reporters, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
According to Rezvani, it is expected that the oil exports to the port of Astrakhan will begin soon.
He noted that oil exports through Amirabad became relevant after the introduction of US sanctions against Iran. Rezvani added that the oil ministry is keeping the issue under control.
