Iran's exports to Iraq up by 13%

In the first five months of the current year (started March 21, 2019), Iran's exports of goods to Iraq increased by 13 percent in monetary terms, compared to the same period of the last Iranian year, the Secretary General of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce Hamid Hosseini said, Trend reports via Fars News Agency.

The exports to Iraq amounted to $3.907 billion in monetary terms, Hosseini said.

For comparison, in the same period of the last Iranian year, Iran's exports to Iraq amounted to $3.439 billion, he added.

In the first five months of the current Iranian year, exports increased by 66 percent in terms of weight, the secretary general said.

In the reported period, the exports to Iraq reached 10 million tons, he said, adding that the exports reached only 6 million tons in the same period of the last Iranian year.

The secretary general further noted that Iran's exports to Iraq may increase if some border points, such as Sumar, are opened for transportation.
