Tehran, Iran, Sept.27
Trend:
Iran's plan to transform Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and establish Ministry of Trade and Commerce will create problems for businesses, said a member of Tehran Chamber of Commerce.
Hassan Foruzan Fard told about the structural reorganization of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade in an interview with Trend.
"Unfortunately, the merge of ministries in the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade was not right from the start. The downsizing of government was part of merge, but the government justifications for these actions were not successful and no tools were used for support of national production and industry, while the final target was not specified, " he said.
"Today, it is said that the aim of separating two ministries was eliminating interruption and limits in commercial sector, but there is no specific plan to control it," he added.
"These decisions are not logical or progressive, and this type of merge and division is still ambiguous. I completely disagree with the plan, since it implies heavy costs that should be paid by producers and people," he indicated. "Apart from obvious costs for relocating, there are other indirect costs," he said.
The official emphasized that the mechanism to implement this plan is costly and time consuming. "The question is whether the action has been reviewed by specialists or it will fail like other merges ," he said.
"The economic improvement and positive results are achieved when the cycle works, the measuring tools are available and correct policy is implemented," he said.
Iranian MPs voted in favor of principal plan to form a Commerce Ministry on Sept 25; 132 members of the parliament voted in favor, 78 against the plan, while eight members abstained in the vote.
