Products worth over $700M exported from Iran’s special economic zone

The value of exports from Persian Gulf Mining and Metal Industries Special Economic Zone in Iran has reached $710 million in the first six months of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), Managing Director of the special economic zone Hassan Khalaj Tehrani said, Trend reports via IRNA.

Tehrani noted that over 3.1 million tons of manufactured products were supplied to Iran’s internal market, adding that this amount of exports was the highest in the region.

Mobarakeh Steel Company, which exported steel rolls worth $276 million, and Hormozgan Steel Company, which exported steel slabs worth $177 million, rank first among the companies of the economic zone in terms of the export value, the managing director said.

Tehrani added that during this period, about 720,000 tons of slabs and 820,000 tons of sponge iron were produced by Hormozgan Steel Company; 720,000 tons of sponge iron, 31,000 tons of aluminum ingots and 3,000 tons of zinc ingots were produced by South Kaveh Steel Plant.

The director called Saba Steel company the only producer of hot briquetted iron in Iran and stated that in the first six months of this year, 235,000 tons of these products were manufactured.

Tehrani said that South Kaveh Steel Plant produced 695,000 tons of steel billets and South Steel Plant produced 9,000 tons of steel billets.
