The project envisaging water transfer from the Persian Gulf to Rafsanjan county in Iran’s south-eastern Kerman province has been completed by 76 percent, member of the Iranian parliament Ahmad Anaraki Mohammadi said, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

“The project of water supply to Gol-Gohar mine in Sirjan county, Sarcheshmeh mine in Rafsanjanprovince, Chadormalu mine in Yazd province, and industrial facilities in Sirjan, Rafsanjan and Yazd provinces was launched in 2013,” added Mohammadi, who is also chief financial officer of the project envisaging water transfer from Persian Gulf to Iran’s Kerman and Yazd provinces,.

"The funds worth more than 60 trillion rials (about $1.42 billion) are required to supply water from the Persian Gulf to the industrial facilities in Kerman and Yazd provinces," the MP said.

Mohammadi said that seven banks will issue the loans worth 20 trillion rials ($476 million) for the project implementation.

"The funds worth 40 trillion rials ($952 million) will be ensured by Gol-Gohar, Sarcheshmeh and Chadormalu facilities," the MP said, adding that the first phase of the project will be launched in the next two years.

There is the problem of water scarcity due to dry climate and drought in Iran’s three provinces, namely Hormozgan, Kerman and Yazd. Iran’s industrial sector is expected to have sustainable water supply as a result of the water transfer from the Persian Gulf.
