Licenses for projects in Iran’s industrial sector grow 8.5%

During the first six months (March 21-September 22) of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), licenses issued for projects commissioned in Iran’s industrial sector have increased by 8.5 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports referring to the report by the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.

During the reporting period, licenses for 2,926 industrial projects were issued. In the same period last year, licenses for 2,698 projects were issued.

The volume of funds invested in the projects amounted to 204 trillion rials (about $4.8 billion) and 46,900 people were employed for the project implementation.

“The total number of projects that received licenses was 12,704,” the report said. “Investments worth 1.3 quadrillion rials (about $32.6 billion) are expected to these projects, which will create jobs for 300,000 people.”

This Iranian year, 235 licenses were issued for mining exploration, which shows 4-percent increase compared to same time period last year (227 licenses).

The ministry noted that the expenditures for mining exploration increased by 69.3 percent. These expenditures amounted to 513 billion rials (about $12.2 million) in the first six months of this Iranian year, compared to 303 billion rials (about $7.2 million) in the same period last year.

Iran’s non-oil exports volume for the first six months amounted to 70 million tons worth $20.9 billion. This shows a 22.5 percent increase in weight compared to the same period last year.

The loans paid by banks and financial institutions to Iran’s economic sectors for the first six months of this Iranian year amounted to 3.8 quadrillion rials (about $90.9 billion). Loans issued to the industry and mining sector amounted to 1.1 quadrillion rials (about $28.1 billion), and to the commercial sector - 689 trillion rials (about $16.4 billion).

The Iranian ministry noted that in the first six months of this Iranian year, 3,440 businesses received 53 trillion rials (about $1.2 billion).

The report said that for this period, 12.1 million tons of raw steel (6.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year), 31.1 million tons of cement (5.2 percent increase), 133,900 tons of copper cathode (15.9 percent increase) and 12 million items of household goods (6.6 percent increase) were produced.
