By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran-Oman trade turnover amounted to $1.16 billion in the previous Iranian year (from March 21, 2018, to March 21, 2019), Head of Iran-Oman Chamber of Commerce Mohsen Zarrabi said, Trend reports with reference to Iran's Young Journalists Club (YJC).

Zarrabi noted that the volume of Iran's exports to Oman reached $728 million in the previous Iranian year.

Meanwhile, Iran's imports from Oman amounted to $433 million, the head of the chamber added.

According to Zarrabi, Oman's position in the list of Iran's trade partners is steadily improving.

Oman retains good political relations with various countries, having free trade agreement with them, and the country is a member of World Trade Organization, Zarrabi said.

Therefore, Oman can be a good destination for exporting Iranian products, especially amidst US sanctions imposed on Iran, he added.

Oman holds trade agreement with 16 Arab and African countries, five European countries, Singapore and the US, which means that Iran can export its goods via Oman without customs duties to large markets, Zarrabi said.

The US imposed the sanctions against Iran in November 2018, the list of which was expanded in several stages. Considering the sanctions, Iran is aiming to export its goods to the world market via other countries.
