Average daily gasoline consumption down by 22 million liters in Iran

Daily petroleum consumption in Iran decreased by 22 million liters after the imposition of quotas on Nov. 15, 2019, Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) Amir Vakilzadeh said, Trend reports with reference to the company's website.

Vakilzadeh noted that the daily petroleum consumption dropped from about 99 liters to 77 million liters.

In the period from the beginning of the eighth month of the current Iranian year (from Oct. 23 to Nov. 21, 2019) to the date of the imposition of quotas (Nov. 15, 2019), the daily petroleum consumption amounted to 98.7 million liters, the NIOPDC managing director added.

For comparison, in the same period of the last year, the average daily petroleum consumption was 89 million liters, Vakilzadeh said.

The managing director noted that this figure was 76.6 million liters in the period from Nov.15 to Dec.6, 2019.

He further added that the average daily oil consumption was 89.6 million liters in the period from Nov. 15 to Dec.6, 2018.

On Nov. 15, 2019, in Iran, the price of gasoline sold on quota increased from 10,000 rials ($0.23) to 15,000 rials ($0.35) and the price of gasoline sold free from the quota increased to 30,000 rials ($0.71).
